Roisin RetirementWhen Roisín O’Connor-Hannigan retired at Christmas 2010 it brought down the curtain on close to three decades of intensive involvement with the academic and cultural life of the school. Quite apart from her commitment to the teaching Irish and English within the school Roisín was the driving force behind almost 25 years of Christmas Concert’s to raise money for St Vincent De Paul and also to raise the spirits and talents of staff and students. She produced and directed a legendary school production of the Plough and The Stars which won an award for the set at the Cavan Drama Festival and took the drama award at the Dublin Feis Cheoil of that year. It would not be possible to list all the countless other dramatic endeavours that are the legacy of Roisín’s unflagging passion and commitment. Past and present staff were present in the Breifne College library when Acting Principal, John Crotty made a presentation to Roisin to mark the occasion. We wish Roisin continued success in her new situation and include a few of the photographs from that occasion. We will miss you, Roisín – Ni bheidh a leithéid ann arís.
